CREATE is the Center for AT Excellence

C4ATX serves as a virtual Assistive Technology Resource Center focused on supporting the best practice use of AT in K-12 schools in GA.

Assistive Technology & Current Educational Initiatives

High Expectations
Promoting a culture of high expectations for all students is fundamental in the K-12 setting.  The goal for all students is success in the general education curriculum.  AT can help students who struggle with access to content and materials and with demonstrating their understanding of topics of study.

Universal Design for Learning
In our diverse classrooms, promoting success for all students means planning ahead for the needs of all students in the areas of engagement, presentation of content in multiple ways, and provision of multiple means of practice and demonstration of understanding.  Instructional and assistive technologies that are universally available for supporting classroom activities can help many students; some specific needs for AT support will still be addressed individually.

Increase Graduation Rate

If our students are more engaged, given greater to access their content and tools that will help increase comprehension, we believe that they will become more successful students and more likely to stay in school!

Successful Transition
Whether a student wants to pursue post-secondary education, enter the world of work, or prepare for future adult living, it is our goal to make sure they have had access to any technology tools that will help them reach their goals - while they are still in school – so that they have time to master the tools they will need.  Identifying what will be needed to reach their goals and getting them into place should be a vital part of transition planning.
